This is an "invented" name for a trade pattern which originated in the early 1970's. Other variants of the Bannockbane tartan design appeared in later years in different colourways. No place or family of the name is known and the pattern lacks any association with Bannockburn, home of the industrialisation of tartan weaving, and the site of Bruce's famous victory in 1314. This pattern may be used by anyone who has a liking for it.
